Arts Council of Wales opens consultation

Today, Arts Council of Wales has opened a three month consultation on its future strategy for distributing funds from the National Lottery. This consultation will shape its strategy for the coming five years. The outcomes of the consultation will determine the way in which the Council distributes the funds it receives from the sale of National Lottery tickets for the next five years.

This Christmas join Hijinx’s community theatre group, Odyssey, as they follow Hansel and Gedeon on their adventure through the Grimms’ Wood. Showing in the Weston Studio of the Wales Millennium Centre from the 6th – 8th Dec at 7pm and 8th Dec at 3pm, with BSL interpretation for all performances and Audio Description on the 7th December.

Pupils from Thornhill Primary School in Cardiff will be contributing to a series of events to commemorate a hundred years since the armistice which finally brought 4 bitter years of fighting to an end on 11 November 1918. The school is part of the Arts Council of Wales’ Creative learning through the arts programme, and is a Lead Creative School.

A Child’s Christmas, Poems and Tiger Eggs by Dylan Thomas

Award-winning Ballet Cymru’s newest production A Child’s Christmas, Poems and Tiger Eggs by Dylan Thomas will be narrated by Welsh icon Cerys Matthews with performances at The Riverfront in Newport, at Sadler’s Wells in London and a UK tour in Autumn 2018. Cerys will be reciting the poems live for the performances in Newport, London and Bangor.

Theatr Genedlaethol Cymru is delighted to announce that it will tour two plays as a double bill – Merched Caerdydd (Cardiff Girls) by Catrin Dafydd, and Nos Sadwrn o Hyd (Saturday Night Forever) by Roger Williams – during spring 2019. The tour will visit venues across Wales during March and April 2019.
