ED THOMAS, HIJINX & WALES IN VENICE LEAD NATIONAL THEATRE WALES’ 2019 SEASON

· Ed Thomas, one of Wales’ leading writers, returns to the stage with a brand new play co-produced with the Royal Court Theatre · NTW will work with pioneering Welsh theatre company Hijinx and four Welsh or Wales-based artists on an original production marking 50 years since the first moon landing · The third instalment in The Storm Cycle – an epic series of productions created by Mike Brookes – will be staged in the run up to the UK’s planned exit from the EU · In a major new international project, Welsh artist Sean Edwards will create a radio play co-produced by NTW for Wales in Venice 2019, to be presented during the Venice Biennale · Four of the company’s NHS70 productions will tour Wales, the UK and further afield · And the company’s renowned Collaboration and Creative Development work with communities and artists will progress across Wales

Theatr Genedlaethol Cymru Tour - Merched Caerdydd / Nos Sadwrn o Hyd

Following the resounding success of the recent Nyrsys tour, Theatr Genedlaethol Cymru is delighted to announce further details about the company’s next tour, namely a production of Merched Caerdydd / Nos Sadwrn o Hyd. Merched Caerdydd is a new work by Catrin Dafydd, and Nos Sadwrn o Hyd is a translation by Roger Williams of his own popular play Saturday Night Forever. The plays will be presented as one programme, and will tour throughout Wales during the spring of 2019.

At a ceremony yesterday at London’s Guildhall, Theatr Clwyd’s ground-breaking production of The Assassination of Katie Hopkins was named Best Musical Production at the UK Theatre Awards, which celebrated outstanding achievements in regional theatre throughout the UK over the past year.
