Time Out for Artistic Development

Matthew Cook - AeroplaneMatt will use the Creative Wales Award to devote his time to an extended period of studio-based creative development.

The focus of this time will be the creation of small to medium sculptural assemblage. These sculptures will take their inspiration from some of his previous site-specific installation works, these have used electronic elements, sound, movement and a variety of objects and photographs to explore a town, place or site.

Matt wants to take the artistic process that he has developed during his career so far and make it more sustainable in the long term.

Creative Wales offers Matt a chance for significant creative development. In order for him to get the most out of this time he have arranged for a cross-section of artists and arts professionals to visit his studio as mentors.

The Creative Wales Award will help him develop his online blog through which he can publish up to date documentation of his work as it develops.

Publishing his work in progress will help Matt see how it is developing through a living sketchbook and will give his audience a window into his artistic process.
